Getting it right - because it's important
We believe that shale development, and the natural resources it yields, will play
an invaluable role in satisfying energy demand within North America, and
potentially beyond. However, it is vitally important that such a strategic resource is
developed in a manner that is safe, environmentally responsible and beneficial to
local communities.
This is why we have created Talisman’s shale operating principles. These principles
will guide our shale operations globally.
We have three main principles, which focus on how we will continue to minimize
the impact of our operations on the environment, benefit the communities in
which we operate and provide transparency into our operations.
We have set out 58 elements that outline specific objectives within the three
principles. These are a starting point. While we currently operate to very high
standards, we believe there is always room for progress. Consequently, our
principles will continue to evolve, driving ongoing improvements in our global
shale operations.
Through these principles we will strive to provide leadership within the industry by
playing our part, getting it right, raising performance and driving best practices.
