Talisman’s North American operations are organized into two distinct businesses: Shale and Conventional. Talisman uses the term “shale” to refer to projects, plays or activities that extract natural gas and natural gas liquids from shale formations, which generally require stimulation techniques that are different than those associated with “conventional” oil and gas activities.
With oil and gas operations strategically located throughout New York, Pennsylvania and Texas – the primary objective for Talisman Energy USA is to be a leading and responsible shale gas producer. We have grown to become the most successful natural gas producer in New York State; continue to achieve tremendous success in Pennsylvania’s Marcellus Shale; and are now exploring opportunities and achieving success in the Eagle Ford Shale of Texas.
Talisman continues to build its position in the U.S. through land acquisitions and strategic partnerships, including a joint venture with Statoil in the Eagle Ford Shale, which is a more “liquids rich” play. Our Marcellus Shale operations are focused on natural gas extraction across northeastern Pennsylvania, where we are one of the most successful operators.
